A quiet winter

la valse hésitante à trois temps

CHIGIRI-E BY FERN
Paper, gesture, and poetic presence
Fern’s chigiri-e works explore fragility and impermanence through torn paper, subtle layering, and restrained composition.
Each piece is conceived as a visual echo of her haiku practice: minimal, tactile, and attentive to silence. The torn edges are not imperfections, but traces of gesture — allowing chance, breath, and time to remain visible.
These works often exist in dialogue with poetry, inviting the viewer to slow down and experience material as emotion.

SUMI-E BY HARUMI KOBAYASHI
A dialogue between ink and poetry
Fern Whisper Studio presents selected sumi-e works by Japanese artist Harumi Kobayashi, developed in close artistic dialogue with Fern Jean-Joseph.
Rooted in traditional Japanese ink painting, Harumi’s practice embraces restraint, movement, and emptiness — resonating naturally with the rhythm of haiku.
These works form a bridge between cultures, where ink and poetry meet in shared silence.
